Local Blog Tearsheet of the Future
Interesting local blog, a site "by and for people who live in and love Watertown, Massachusetts." You can scroll down and see the decision process for a new police location from many angles, all of them verbatim and at least mildly diverting. Real over-the-fence-quality local chat. Lisa (h2otown) Williams, herself a whale of an unleashed writer, chats about it on Jay Rosen's latest.
We here have long dreamed of re-reporting one local "duh"-quality newspaper-news item a day. Including the funniest parts of an outsize budget. Lisa's is just about the right tone, no hushed Green reverence for local NGO's, very little political outrage, just the often undignified facts. No malice, no reticence. Things true and formerly "better left unsaid."
To begin with, what is the real scoop on city loans to a nightclub? Just how many riders do those painted-over buses have? We increasingly want to know, and someone's going to tell. Along with news of Mrs. Wukash's visiting grandchildren. Who might like to ride the bus downtown, if there's a seat.
No more. Tell it, sister.
