Civilized happiness

Recipes for happiness:

Lawrence Ferlinghetti's Recipe For Happiness Khaborovsk Or Anyplace ...has much to recommend it:

One grand boulevard with trees
with one grand cafe in sun
with strong black coffee in very small cups.

One not necessarily very beautiful
man or woman who loves you.

One fine day.

We've been reflecting on the components, and encouragers, of basic civilization. Some of that in the above: cities, reasonable tranquility, trade and commerce in foodstuffs and manufactured goods, lust-tempering affection. Invisible service and infrastructure. Public order and self-restraint, along with, in the linked post, elaborate mythology and prescribed celebration.*

And, mostly implicit for the varied poets who address such matters, a schooled and layered choreography of mind.

Sunshine happens naturally. The remainder is fruit of long schooled centuries.
