Mind at Work

April 4, 2006

Assistant Village Idiot has brain-development links.

If

cortex thickness depends on richness of experience

then boredom via collectivization is not good for young living things, any more than neglectful, poor-environment parenting is. No big surprise that prodigies especially may need some accommodation in the school environment.

And they may need to do their own thing indefinitely, while those at a different point on the bell curve run the world. There is enough borderline Asperger's in the vicinity of Chez Dilys to know AVI is no idiot about these matters.

Those on the autistic spectrum seldom have much interest in power per se. But they do have a strong interest in making things be a certain way, and can be rather persistent in making it so. They won't think of it as controlling us. They will think of it as getting it right.
