They Invented the Zero, You Know

July 20, 2005
Alex the grey parrot does math.

Via mirabilis and with a sidelong look (the title) toward Kathy Shaidle, the visit with whom today leads to the subject of
concepts cf. Reality, deep talk in Japan involving Jehovah's Witnesses, Hare Krishna Govinda-singers, and, in the narrative corner, an ordained American Buddhist eating fried banana pie. Only on the internet...

Update: Constant Reader of Good&Happy points out that the concepts of "none" and "zero" are conceptually discrete, and that our little foray into placeholders and "all-gone-ness" may have been confused. Oh well, blame the meme on Nadagate, and cultural habits of misdirection.

Update: Illustrated "Meany"

Some time ago Kathy Shaidle prompted a discussion of the  Mean-People-Suck bumper stickers, and the associated meme.

Today's Doug Savage entry in the occasional Illustrators-You-Haven't-Yet-Heard-Of feature provides the last word. Trust us, you will want to bookmark the cartoon or this post for easyMeany_7 reference when Situations Arise.

And yes, we'll let you know if the Blog-ad course to teach anyone cartooning is worth $19.95.

Is That...

...a burrito, or are you just packing heat?
