Ever since Robert J. Avrech let Hollywood have it (Help! I'm a Hollywood Republican), we've followed his weblog, Seraphic Secret. As well as a scriptwriter, he is a publisher of adventurous books on Orthodox Jewish themes, and so, thankfully, not dependent on the Hollywood culture.

The new blogger DarwinCatholic finds a free link to this inspiring WSJ story about not only a young girl but her beleaguered Muslim father. Ayouba Mahomed, you begin our Kind Hearts + Information = New Life file.

Of course, emancipation, modernization, female self-reliance, making a break with traditional cultural restraints, all carry their own pressures and griefs. But the world turns.

Now, girls, be sure you mind your manners and make yo' Daddy proud!

We realized in our eagerness to welcome AustinBlogger DarwinCatholic that we neglected to acknowledge that we heard of him through the prolific Amy Welborn. Then Amy linked to us (welcome, folks!)
